Stop COVID

stop-covid

Expression of support for the initiative Stop COVID Together and Fairly (an English translation of our official statement)

We believe that, in the current pandemic situation, the economy should not be given precedence over people’s health. We call for social measures that can maintain, for the necessary length of time, the needed restriction of social interaction, including economic interaction, without placing undue burden on the most disadvantaged residents of the Czech Republic. We are convinced that closing schools is not, in itself, a solution, but should be undertaken for as short a period as possible, and that it is necessary to develop alternatives to on-site schooling and to look, during the coming months and years, for the most appropriate means of mitigating the unfortunately irreplaceable effects of school closings. For this reason we welcome and support the discussion called for by the initiative Stop COVID Together and Fairly.
